A♯ Bebop Major

Note: This scale is rarely used in practice. The b-flat-bebop-major is more commonly used and is enharmonically equivalent.

The A♯ bebop major scale is enharmonically equivalent to the B♭ bebop major scale, though B♭ is strongly preferred due to simpler notation. This eight-note jazz scale is derived from A♯ major with an added chromatic passing tone (F𝄪) between the fifth and sixth scale degrees. While theoretically valid, the complex notation with double sharps makes the B♭ bebop major scale far more practical for actual jazz performance and should be used instead.

The A♯ bebop major scale follows the interval formula of 2-2-1-2-1-1-2-1 semitones, requiring multiple double sharps in its notation. The B♭ bebop major scale produces identical pitches with far simpler notation, making it the universally preferred choice among jazz musicians. In any practical context, use B♭ bebop major instead.
